In Steenbergen, the companies that had previously been separated from each other were brought together again. The Fallschirmjäger builtt themselves makeshift shelters from simple materials and then tried to catch a few hours of rest. The battles of the past few weeks had taken toll of them, and their physical and mental depletion is evident.

It is all too likely that this picture was put in scene or with malice councils was taken by one of the PK photographers. It is possibly the most famous photographs of the airborne landings in May 1940.
